My relationship with the very wonderful 'SEN' is expanding and deepening. SEN is ostensibly a company with 4K cameras on the International Space Station, allowing 'real-time' access to a view of Earth from space. But it's much more than that : they are dedicated to raising awareness by inviting us to experience a deeper sense of our place in the universe.
My friend Charles Black (CEO) has been an admirer of my music since we first met 33 years ago, and I of his vision for SEN. We stayed in touch as Charles was in hot pursuit of a piece I wrote all those years ago, which was finally realised as "A Boy Travelling With His Mother" on the latest album AURI III : Candles & Beginnings. SEN has featured this and a piece called 'The Procession' ( from my album 'The Madness of Crowds') as part of their amazing work. So, just after Christmas, the pair of us talked about new music. And here is a 1-minute 24-second excerpt from a much larger work called 'Sentient'. This is designed to quickly introduce people to what they have been missing. Such is the inspiration from the extraordinary reality being projected directly into my imagination; this new music will certainly appear on my next solo album. News on that will limp out as it happens...
The new album ‘AURI: Candles & Beginnings’ has now become physical and can be found at all the usual outlets. A European Tour is underway and is already triumphant, so do come and experience a rare experience.
I will be posting some little ‘vignettes’ concerning each song over the coming weeks, so watch this space…
Reviews in real hard-copy magazines are trickling in -
“This music is not about genres or their fusion. Freedom resonates in every track.
If world peace were music, it might very well sound like this”.
- **** Inferno (Finland)
“There’s a magical feel to the album as a whole, and the glorious result is a genuinely collaborative soundscape that ebbs and flows beautifully”
- Prog (UK)
The Procession: above the Earth
An extraordinary new company called 'SEN' was recently launched, and it has arrived with a wondrous idea - to democratize space through access to live stream footage of the Earth from their 4K cameras on the ISS (International Space Station). This is available in 'real time' , 24/7, to everyone.
Every week, they produce a roundup of footage, and I am deeply honoured they are using my music to accompany these astonishing images.
The music featured is called 'The Procession' and it lives in the albums ' The Madness of Crowds' and 'Messages'. The piece is looped throughout the roundup, and a trance-like state just cannot be avoided. Thanks to SEN's CEO Charles Black and his splendid team for creating such a visionary platform.
Just when you think the world can’t get any better, this happens: A Christmas tour as guest to my wondrous Auri sister and our little brother Timo, travelling around Finnish churches playing magical Yuletide songs and having too much fun. Oh go on then…
